2009 Meeting of the CCW States parties
The 2008 Meeting of the High Contracting Parties (Geneva, 13-14 November 2008) decided, inter alia, that a Meeting of the High Contracting Parties to the Convention be held in Geneva on 12 and 13 November 2009. The meeting was chaired by Ambassador Babacar Carlos Mbaye of Senegal as Chairperson-designate.
A note verbale by the Secretary-General on convening the 2009 Meeting of the High Contracting Parties was circulated in January 2009, as follows:
Under the overall responsibility of the Chairperson-designate, the Meeting of the High Contracting Parties considered the following issues:
- Plan of Action to promote the universality of the Convention, including the implementation of the CCW Sponsorship Programme;
- Status of implementation of and compliance with the Convention and its Protocols;
- Consideration of the report of the work of the Group of Governmental Experts;
- Establishment of CCW Implementation Support Unit; and
- Mines Other Than Anti-Personnel Mines.
